AP Report to the Nation 2010
The 6th Annual AP Report to the Nation
On February 10, College Board President Gaston Caperton and AP Program Vice President Trevor Packer announced findings from the 6th Annual AP Report to the Nation, which included participation and performance data for each state within the context of its population and racial/ethnic demographics. The report also announced that a greater percentage of the nation's students are taking and succeeding on AP Exams, which research shows are predictors of success in college.

A word about comparing states and schools
Media and others occasionally rank states, districts, and schools on the basis of AP Exam results, despite repeated warnings that such rankings may be problematic. While AP Exams are valid measures of students' content mastery of college-level studies in specific academic disciplines, they should never be used as sole measures for gauging educational excellence and equity.
