CADRe (Comprehensive Approaches to District-wide Reform Endeavors)
Serving the unique needs of districts committed to preparing all students for college
The urgent need for improvement in our nation's schools demands an aggressive response, and the College Board is continuously seeking new models for reform based on the use of the programs and services of the College Readiness Systems and other methodologies. The goal is to create national models for deep and lasting systemic change that can be replicated in schools across the country. CADRe is one such model that is currently in development.
Districts with a strong commitment to college access and success for all students can work with the College Readiness Systems team to undertake individualized school needs assessment that will shape the parameters of their reform model and identify the most effective use of College Board programs and services.
Key components of a CADRe model:- Shared goals of college readiness for all students
- Customization to accommodate individual school-district needs
- Identification of College Board programs, services, and other resources
- Applicability to any size school district
- Focus on district work K-12
- Assistance in the entire core curriculum
- Assistance with professional development for administrators, teachers, and counselors
- Focus on professional development
- Creation of college-going culture
Because this model is customized to fit the needs of individual school districts, it may be a variation of the two existing models, College Board Schools and EXCELerator™ Schools, or a brand new model for comprehensive reform.
Philosophy
The constant of any reform model will be the focus on achievement of academic content knowledge; attainment of advanced academic skills; successful completion of college-level and other advanced courses taken in high school; and acquisition of college planning skills, demonstrated by an understanding of college and career options and the college admissions and financing process.
