College Board Schools
Providing small school settings to prepare traditionally underserved students for college
The College Board Schools model, one of two current College Board reform models, is designed to help middle school and high school students in underrepresented groups enter the pipeline to higher education. There are 17 College Board Schools in New York State — 12 in New York City, 2 in Buffalo, 2 in Rochester, and 1 in Yonkers. Two new schools will open in the 2010-11 academic year in Baltimore, Maryland.
College Board Schools are new public schools which serve students in low-income and traditionally underserved areas. New York College Board Schools serve grades 6–12. Maryland College Board Schools will open as individual middle and high schools, grades 6–8 and 9–12, in the 2010-11 academic year.
The goal of these schools is to prepare all students to enroll and succeed in college.
