Teaching OpportunitiesThe College Readiness Systems help districts by:

  • Providing models focused on preparing students of all backgrounds for college success
  • Creating centers of learning where College Board programs and services drive academic rigor
  • Creating alliances of mutual respect between the College Board and districts to create schools that increase low-income and minority students' opportunities for college success
  • Engaging districts in the work of secondary school reform
  • Eliminating the persistent achievement gaps among student groups
  • Providing a reliable, successful choice for educational leaders to increase high school graduation and college-going rates and to develop a college going culture in schools

CRS helps schools by:

  • Creating a community for networking, sharing best practices, and sustaining professional growth
  • Using data to inform and drive teaching, learning, and assessment programs within each school
  • Using data to monitor student mastery of core subject matter
  • Implementing a set of research based programs aimed at increasing enrollment and success in advanced courses including Advanced Placement (AP®)
  • Creating of a school culture focused on college readiness for all students
  • Promoting greater student engagement with challenging, meaningful content
  • Creating and sustaining a belief system to reflect the expectation that all students can be successful in achieving at high levels and go on to complete their postsecondary education

CRS helps teachers, counselors and administrators by:

  • Focusing on high-quality vertically aligned professional development
  • Instructing all staff in research based strategies that ensure high quality instruction
  • Supporting staff in the implementation of our rigorous college-preparatory programs such as SpringBoard®, CollegeEd®, and the Advanced Placement Program®
  • Providing training through both on-site and online professional development and support
  • Providing professional development offerings that relate to the establishment of AP Vertical teams
  • Enrolling school leaders in the College Board Leadership Institute for Principals (CBLIP), a year long National Leadership Development Model
