The Academy of Medical Technology
The Academy of Medical Technology (AMT) commits to providing our students with a nurturing and supportive environment that is conducive to personal growth and academic learning. Students are encouraged to become empathetic volunteers and leaders in their communities. Our curricular program offers a continuum of instruction from middle school through high school leading to an advanced Regents Diploma. This ensures our students access to higher education and preparing them to compete and succeed in a global workforce. A structured, academically-rigorous curriculum emphasizes content area skills and independent critical thinking, while exposing our students to the health care profession.
Personalization, Community, and Inclusion
The AMT community is strong because:
- Everyone knows everyone
- Students participate in full inclusion classes with students of different abilities
- Students participate in school decision-making through town meetings and school leadership team meetings
- English language learners are provided with academic support through differentiated instruction, pullout services, team teaching strategies, and academic prescriptions
- There is an advisor for every student who provides guidance, information, and support, as well as serving as the school's liaison to the student's family. The Advisory program is an important experience at AMT from the sixth grade until graduation. Students meet with a group that becomes their second family. Their advisor is be their advocate; they get to know their students and their families, and are there to help or just to talk
- We welcome any students who have previously experienced schools as unresponsive to their specific needs.
The AMT Rx for Success provides students with special needs (academic, social, emotional, or language) with a written prescription for personalized instruction
