Committees & Advisory Panels

Auxiliary groups and their functions

The Board of Trustees oversees the work of several committees and advisory councils dedicated to advancing the mission of the College Board.

  • Trustee Executive Committee: The Executive Committee is composed of seven members of the Board of Trustees, plus the chair and vice–chair of the Board of Trustees and the College Board president. When necessary, the committee can function in a limited capacity on behalf of the full Board of Trustees. See the Trustee Executive Committee roster (.pdf/93K). Requires Adobe Reader (latest version recommended).
  • Trustee Finance Committee: The Committee on Finance reviews the budgeting and fees, financial reserve and investment policies, staff compensation policies, and other financial matters of the College Board, making recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding the fiscal strategy of the organization. See the Trustee Finance Committee roster (.pdf/93K).
  • Trustee Audit Committee: The Audit Committee is appointed by the board to oversee the financial reporting process and to ensure the balance, transparency and integrity of financial information. The audit committee also reviews the effectiveness of the organization's internal financial control and risk management system as well as the process for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations affecting financial reporting and its code of conduct.
  • Trustee Membership Committee: This committee serves as the task force for involving all College Board members in contributing to advancement of the College Board's mission. It develops and participates in the implementation of a two–way communications strategy, with the objective of creating a national clearinghouse on educational equity activities and strategies. See the Trustee Membership Committee roster (.pdf/92K).
  • Trustee Nominations Committee: Appointed by the chair of the College Board, the Committee on Nominations proposes nominees to the Board of Trustees and for the offices of chair and vice–chair of the College Board. See the Trustee Nominations Committee roster (.pdf/90K).
  • Trustee Advisory Panel on Community Colleges: The Advisory Panel on Community Colleges promotes the national recognition of community colleges in improving access to higher education. It provides guidance to the Board of Trustees, and to the organization as a whole, in better serving community colleges and the majority of students whose access to higher education is through this sector.
  • Trustee Advisory Council to the Puerto Rico and Latin America Office: Composed of College Board members from both the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States, this council advises the president of the College Board and the executive director of the Puerto Rico and Latin America Office on the work of the College Board in Puerto Rico and Latin America. See the Trustee Advisory Council to the Puerto Rico and Latin America Office roster (.pdf/61K).
  • Trustee Advisory Panel on Student Concerns: This panel is composed of secondary and college students from member institutions and serves to advise the College Board on the social, economic, public policy, and educational impact of our programs and services. See the Trustee Advisory Panel on Student Concerns roster (.pdf/63K). Learn more about the Advisory Panel on Student Concerns.
  • Trustee Advisory Panel to the Washington Office: This panel provides insight regarding public policy questions on which the College Board may need to take a position as well as guidelines for dealing with the issues involved. In addition, the panel counsels the College Board with respect to priorities in the use of our resources for the increasingly important function of public policy research and analysis.
