How representation and voting works
The role of delegates
Delegates serve as your organization's direct link to the College Board. Delegates attend regional and national assembly meetings and represent your institution in elections that affect the future of the College Board and influence our programs and services. Your delegates will receive regular communications throughout the year to keep them informed about vital College Board activities.
As College Board members, delegates receive the latest information on College Board programs, services, and educational initiatives, including the SAT® program, the Advanced Placement Program®, financial aid and education finance services, student search, enrollment management services, and education reform.
Appointing delegates
College Board member institutions can appoint a delegate to each of our three national assemblies—the Academic Assembly, the College Scholarship Service Assembly, and the Guidance and Admission Assembly. (For more information, see Board of Trustees & Assemblies.)
By appointing delegates to each of the assemblies, your organization receives the full benefit of membership and representation.
You can get a list of your current delegates (if your institution is already a College Board member) from the Membership Directory.
If you have any questions related to your delegate appointments, please contact the membership staff at membership@collegeboard.org.
Institutional voting
Each member institution designates an individual responsible for voting on matters submitted for decision by members of the College Board. Such matters are typically presented to the membership at the annual meeting, and include business such as approval of new members and election of College Board Trustees.
Changing and updating delegate information
We encourage you to use the delegate appointment form, which we mail out several times a year, to update delegation information. Keeping delegation information updated ensures that delegates receive important communications.
