Higher Education Trends Reports
Reliable and comprehensive data for educators and policymakers
College affordability is a challenge faced not only by families, but also by colleges and universities that strive to remain affordable and accessible. The data provided in the 2008 Trends in Higher Education reports are intended to shed light on the current state of college prices and student financial aid.
Trends in College Pricing, which relies on data from the most recent College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges, provides information on changes in undergraduate tuition and fees, room and board, and other estimated expenses related to attending colleges and universities in 2008-09.
Trends in Student Aid provides detailed information on the sources and amounts of financial aid available in 2007-08 to assist students and families in paying for postsecondary education.
This year, in addition to data provided in shortened versions of the print publications, more detailed information is available through an interactive website. The new online tool makes detailed data easily available for reference and downloading.

The Annual Survey of Colleges
Both Trends in College Pricing and Trends in Student Aid are based on the results of the College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges. The Annual Survey is distributed to about 3,500 postsecondary institutions across the country, collecting a wealth of data on enrollment, admissions, degrees and majors, tuition, financial aid, and other aspects of undergraduate education.
