Supporting the College Board's mission to connect students to college success
Advocacy programs utilize the College Board's public voice and coalition-building capacity to improve education and respond to member needs and concerns. With a special focus on underrepresented and low-income students, projects support the mission to connect all students to college success and opportunity. Below are a few featured advocacy initiatives:
- School counselors and teachers are critical education professionals.
- To promote a national dialogue on increasing the number of U.S. students who graduate from college, the College Board began the Commission on Access, Admissions and Success in Higher Education.
- The Low-Income Task Force explores ways to remove financial and non-financial barriers to college success for low income students.
- Community colleges play a central role in national educational solutions.
- The College Board supports initiatives that promote opportunity, access, and diversity.
- The College Board formed the Rethinking Student Aid project to help develop policy recommendations for financial aid reform.
- Improving the quality of writing in schools and colleges is key to helping students succeed in college and in life.
The College Board's unique combination of a powerful membership base; strong research capacity; and deep reach into schools, college, and universities provides opportunities to bring educators together to positively influence education. In a recent survey and interviews, members called for the College Board to expand its role as an advocate for education in the United States. Moving forward, the advocacy projects will continue to address issues which are of major concern to the education community.
