Advanced Placement Incentive Programs help you offset the cost of building your AP program

The Advanced Placement™ Incentive Program (APIP) enables recipients to develop or sustain programs that encourage low-income students to participate in Pre-AP® and AP® courses and exams. Federally funded three-year awards are based on competitive grant proposals.

This competition is open to state educational agencies, local educational agencies, or national not-for-profit organizations with expertise in the Advanced Placement Program®. The U.S. Department of Education issues APIP requests for proposals annually; appropriations vary by year. In 2005 and 2006, appropriations were just over $24 million. Awards vary by year.

For more information about APIP, visit the U.S. Department of Education website at www.ed.gov/programs/apincent/index.html.

Funding from an APIP award can help offset the cost of building or enhancing AP programs in your state or district. The College Board offers various programs and services that may fit in your APIP plan. If you plan on submitting a proposal for the next APIP competition, consider how the following programs and services may fit your needs and enhance your proposal:
