Application requirements
We are not accepting applications for Cohort III at this time.
Principals must apply online following the instructions below. All application materials should be prepared in advance for electronic submission.
A complete application must include:
Letter of Support: The letter of support must be from the Superintendent/CEO and express a commitment to support your participation from November 2008 through July 2009.
Personal Profile: All required fields on the profile must be completed.
Personal Statement: In a personal statement of no more than 500 words you should:
- Explain why you choose to participate in the College Board Leadership Institute for Principals.
- Describe the specific goals and outcomes you hope to reach for yourself as a learner, thinker ands leader.
- Describe the characteristics of the types of people you would like to be grouped with during the Leadership Institute.
Essay: In an essay of no more than 500 words, describe a school improvement effort that you led:
- Explain what it was, why it was important, the challenges and successes, and how it made a difference.
- Describe how you led this effort and what you learned from the experience.
Resume: Your resume should document your experience as a principal.
Application review and notification
- Complete applications will be reviewed and rated on a four-point rubric using the following criteria: innovator/entrepreneur; intentionality; change agent; collaborative leader; and systems thinker. Click here for a copy of the rubric.
- Applicants will be notified of their acceptance on a rolling basis.
- Tuition for the program is $3800, due in full upon acceptance, payable by check to the College Board. Participants are responsible for their travel and hotel expenses for all three residential sessions.
Cancellation policy: Once a candidate has confirmed his/her participation in CBLIP, all requests for withdrawals must be received in writing no less than 30 days before the start of the program, in order to avoid cancellation fees. Participants who withdraw from CBLIP less than 30 days before the program start date are required to pay a cancellation fee 50% of tuition, or $1900. Withdrawals occurring less than 15 days prior to program start date will be charged the full tuition cost of $3800.
