What to Expect

What to expect from a College Board Online Event

The Virtual Classroom

During an Online Event, participants do not actually see the presenter or each other. You hear each other using Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and utilize text messaging on the discussion board to communicate and interact. We display text, graphics, photographs, and websites. You can ask questions, provide comments, and respond to yes/no or multiple-choice polling questions.

Most Online Events require you to register at https://apps2.collegeboard.com/olrWebApp/find_meeting.jsp. Once you register, you receive an email giving you the link for the website you need to access the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom.

Events

Online Events are organized by course, role, or topic. Events may be informational, content-based, or focused on instruction. Some Events and Workshops are free; others require a registration fee.

Presenters

Events presenters may be highly qualified college professors, high school teachers, specialists, or College Board-endorsed consultants. Each presenter is trained to use the interactive, online format for delivering instruction. At the end of every Online Event, participants evaluate the presenter's performance as part of the evaluation.

Event materials

Presenters may create pre-event assignments or event handouts. Before an Online Event takes place, the College Board sends the location and retrieval of relevant materials to registered participants.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits

The College Board has been approved as an authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). As an authorized provider, the College Board is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards, internationally recognized as standards of good practice.

Many Online Events qualify for CEU credits. The College Board administers these credits under guidelines provided by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). To receive CEU credits, participants must attend the entire Online Event. The College Board emails CEU certificates to participants, shortly after the date of the event.
