Student Search Service: International Search

Global student mobility is on the rise, with the number of international undergraduates in the U.S. increasing significantly, to more than 1.6 million. Do you:

  • Want to increase the number of international students in your class?
  • Need assistance in identifying qualified international students?
  • Desire insights on how to maximize your international search orders and student data?

Join us to learn strategies for finding international students through the College Board's Student Search Service. Learn how Student Search Service helps you identify prospective international students and build the foundation for communicating with them efficiently and effectively.

Student Search Service: Recruiting Students from Texas

As demographics continue to change, enrollment managers are exploring new markets to offset declines in the number of regional high school graduates. With significant increases in sophomore PSAT/NMSQT and SAT takers and nearly tripled AP Exam volumes, Texas is a growing source of college-ready students. If your institution is developing or fine-tuning strategies for new student markets, join us to see how the College Board's Student Search Service can help find them in Texas. Learn how the Student Search Service helps you identify prospective students and build a foundation for communicating with them efficiently and effectively.

Student Search Service: Recruiting Young Men of Color

Research indicates that African American women earn two-thirds of the degrees awarded to African American students, and, among Native Americans and Hispanics, women account for 60 percent of the degrees. On college campuses, the male-to-female ratio has become skewed to the point that men may be considered an "underrepresented group." In fact, in comparing bachelor's degree completion rates for men in a variety of countries, the United States ranked lowest. We clearly need to do better.

This session will highlight some of the findings of the College Board's report "The Educational Crisis Facing Young Men of Color," and discuss ways in which institutions can use our rich data sources to target young men of color to help them get ready, get in and have a successful college experience.

Student Search Service: Search by Religious Preference

Did you know that the College Board's Student Search Service (SSS) is able to filter records based on religious faith? Faith-based institutions are thus able to target those students who will be the best fit rather than cast a wide net and include students who would not consider a faith-based institution. Sixty percent of SAT takers select at least one of the 36 choices for student religious preference or affiliation. In this session, presenters will review search strategies to identify prospective students from different religious backgrounds and offer innovative tactics for leveraging recruitment tools like Student Search Service so faith-based institutions can meet their goals.

Student Search Service: Recruiting Students from California

As demographics continue to change, everyone seems to want to explore new markets to offset declines in the number of regional high school graduates. The most populous state in the union continues to see a growing number of students considering out-of-state colleges and universities. Participation in SAT, PSAT, and AP has increased significantly in California among all ethnic groups, providing a robust pool of prospective applicants. If your institution is developing or fine-tuning strategies for new student markets, join us to see how the College Board's Student Search Service can help find them in California.

Student Search Service: Recruiting Women for STEM Fields

In many ways, women have been more aggressive in their pursuit of college degrees than men. Female test-takers outnumber male test-takers in all of the College Board's assessments—SAT, PSAT/NMSQT and AP. Historically, however, young women have not been encouraged to pursue careers in the fields of science, mathematics, engineering and technology. Thus, despite increases in overall college participation rates for women, recruiting women into the STEM fields continues to be a challenge for many colleges and universities. Learn how the Student Search Service can help institutions identify prospective female students for STEM programs and build a foundation for communicating with them efficiently and effectively.

How to Be More Strategic in Freshmen Inquiry Generation

As budgets tighten, admission offices are asked to find creative and effective ways to meet their goals with fewer resources. This session will discuss how to be more strategic with student search and include an analysis of your current Student Search Service® orders to assure they are aligned with your institutional objectives. Ed Gillis, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Admission at the University of Miami; and Martha Pitts, Senior Consultant for Higher Education at the College Board will discuss best practices and present findings from Gillis' Annual Survey of Colleges on Current Industry Practices for Undergraduate Freshmen Inquiry Generation. They will explore tools and techniques to leverage geodemographic clusters and market and institutional data in targeted outreach. Also discussed will be ways to improve messaging including social media and increase return on investment.

Consider attending this workshop if you are a Dean/Director of Admissions or responsible for Student Search Service in your office.
