Workshops and Summer Institutes
Learn how to empower students to succeed
The College Board provides K–12 teachers, counselors, and administrators with professional development resources and services to engage students in high-level learning. The organization’s aim is to ensure that every middle and high school student develops the skills, habits of mind, and concepts that are needed to succeed in college.
In this section, you can read descriptions of the College Board’s intensive workshops for education professionals as well as our AP and Pre-AP Summer Institutes for K–12 teachers. Learn more about our offerings by subject area by following the links in the left-hand navigation.
Workshops
- For K–12 teachers, there are AP® and Pre-AP® workshops for the teaching of English, mathematics and computer science, fine arts, sciences, social science and history, world languages, and interdisciplinary studies.
- The SAT® Program also offers workshops for teachers.
- K–12 administrators and coordinators can learn more about topics like exam administration and building Vertical Teams.
- Offerings for counselors include the annual Fall Counselor Workshops.
- For higher education professionals, there are workshops in financial aid.
- Many workshops are also available as online events.
Education professionals who participate in College Board workshops may earn CEU Credits.
Summer institutes
AP and Pre-AP Summer Institutes offer 30-plus hours of subject-specific professional development that equip K–12 teachers with content and resources to enhance their teaching of AP courses. They also provide an opportunity for teachers to exchange ideas and information with peers worldwide, and to become a member of an extended learning community.
