An Introduction to the Advanced Placement Program & Pre-AP Professional Development

Learn how AP & Pre-AP can benefit your curriculum

The one-day workshop introduces teachers to the AP Program. You will learn about:

  • The College Board's mission of connecting all students to college success
  • Goals and benefits of the AP Program
  • Development and administration of AP courses and exams
  • Student preparation for the AP Program
  • Professional development for Pre-AP teachers

Pre-AP rests on the belief that all students can perform at rigorous academic levels, and that they should start developing skills and acquiring knowledge as early as possible.

Beyond the introductory information, participants will learn about Pre-AP strategies in English and mathematics. The workshop can be delivered either to an English or mathematics audience - department chairs and curricular decision-makers are urged to attend.

Goals

  • Understand the College Board's mission, including the aim of equity and access
  • Learn how AP Exams are scored: The AP Reading
  • Find out about resources for your school
  • Explore Pre-AP -- AP connection with classroom strategies in English and Math
