Curriculum Module: Science and Technology

The science and technology theme for the AP French Language and Culture course may be explored through the context of social impact, as suggested in the AP French Language and Culture Curriculum Framework. Indeed, one of the proposed essential questions for this theme is, How do developments in science and technology affect our lives? This topic can be addressed from both historical and contemporary perspectives, and lends itself well to literary, cultural and journalistic explorations. The lesson in this curriculum module provides AP French Language and Culture students with the opportunity to examine the ways people's lives are changed by the introduction of technology. The lesson draws from authentic audio, visual, audiovisual and written materials, incorporating culture into the classroom while developing students' Interpretive, Interpersonal and Presentational Communication skills.

Note: Curriculum module materials reflect important topics in AP courses, and the materials are meant to provide teachers with resources and classroom ideas. However, curriculum module materials should not be taken as an indication that a particular topic will appear on the AP Exam.
