For new and experienced AP teachers, this workshop includes College Board resources, released exams, and student samples

Workshop materials

At every AP Japanese Language and Culture workshop held by the College Board, each participant receives a copy of the Workshop Handbook, which contains:

  • AP Japanese Language and Culture Course Description
  • AP Course Audit information
  • Sample syllabus for AP Japanese Language and Culture and a Syllabus Development Guide
  • AP Japanese Language and Culture free-response materials (student samples, scoring guidelines and commentary)
  • Teacher's Guide

Curriculum Module: Instructional Strategies to Incorporate Culture

Teaching culture is an essential element of Standards-based instruction. This collection of articles and unit plans illustrates strategies to help students develop cultural knowledge in the three modes of communication in order to improve their overall communicative competency. Chapters include:

  • Unit Plan: Obon Festival
  • Unit Plan: Energy Conservation
  • Unit Plan: Travel and Transportation

Note: Curriculum module materials reflect important topics in AP courses, and the materials are meant to provide teachers with resources and classroom ideas. However, curriculum module materials should not be taken as an indication that a particular topic will appear on the AP Exam.
