Exams offered by CLEP
The 34 CLEP examinations comprise five subject areas usually covered in a two-year degree program or in the first two years of a four-year program:
- Composition and literature
- Foreign languages
- History and social sciences
- Science and mathematics
- Business
Five of the examinations cover material taught in the core courses required by most colleges. For these exams, colleges may grant credit in the general area in which credit is earned, rather than for a specific course. These exams are:
- College Mathematics
- Social Sciences and History
- English Composition (with or without essay)
- Natural Sciences
- Humanities
