Colleges That Require Writing
Using the SAT® writing score in the application process
The assessment of writing is a fairly new addition to the SAT, but it is not new to the college admission process. Colleges that formerly required the SAT Subject Test in Writing or similar measurements can now use the SAT writing score as part of their evaluation of a student's readiness for college-level work. Most such institutions now require an admission test with writing. Many others, while not requiring a writing assessment, have begun to use writing scores from the SAT or ACT for placement and other enrollment decisions.
