Using PSAT/NMSQT Results

Helping students prepare for the SAT with My College QuickStart™

Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT can use their test results to understand their strengths and weaknesses and structure their preparation for the SAT. Each high school student who takes the PSAT/NMSQT receives access to My College QuickStart, a free personalized online college planning kit. This tool provides an interactive score report, an SAT study plan, and personalized lists of colleges, majors, and careers.

When they register for the SAT, encourage students who have taken the PSAT/NMSQT to visit My College QuickStart and access My SAT Study Plan. This study plan, based on the student's PSAT/NMSQT performance, includes the following:

  • A review of performance by question type
  • Links to questions answered incorrectly or omitted, with explanations
  • SAT practice questions
  • A sample SAT essay prompt with sample essays
  • Personalized skills feedback
  • A review of mathematics concepts
  • Test-taking approaches for each section
  • A print-friendly checklist of SAT preparation tasks
  • The official SAT practice test
