Homeschooled Students

Registering for the SAT Reasoning Test

Homeschooled students can register by paper or online for the SAT®. When prompted for their high school code, they should supply the number 970000.

Supplying identification

Students schooled at home who do not have acceptable photo identification can apply for a Student ID Form at their local high school. The student must supply a recognizable photo. You can help these students by:

  • Verifying their identity through acquaintances or other means
  • Printing a Student ID Form (.pdf/248K) on school letterhead. Requires Adobe Reader (latest version recommended).
  • Following the directions on the form for completing it. You or your school principal need to:
    • Affix the student's photo where indicated
    • Apply the school seal, making sure to overlap the photo
    • Have the student sign the ID form in your presence
    • Sign and date the form

The student will also be asked to sign the ID form again at the test center. This form must be dated and is good for only one year.
