Registration
Online or mail registration for SAT Subject Tests
Encourage your students to register for SAT Subject Tests by setting up a free account in the student area of this site. When they complete their personal profiles, they will be able to link to lists of customized majors, career choices, and college matches as part of their My Organizer account.
What are the benefits of online registration?
By registering online students can:
- Avoid errors in choosing a test date and test center
- Get immediate registration confirmation
- Print their SAT® Admission Ticket
- Have 24-hour access to registration for printing or correcting Admission Tickets
- View their SAT scores
- Send their SAT scores
- Get recruited by colleges
Remind students that they must use a credit card or valid fee waiver to register online.
Exceptions
Students must register by mail if they:
- Wish to pay by check or money order
- Request Sunday testing for the first time
- Request that the College Board open a test center nearer to their home
- Are younger than 13 years old
- Are testing in Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, or Togo
Registration by mail
To register by mail, a student needs The Paper Registration Guide for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests (.pdf/1.61MB). Requires Adobe Reader (latest version recommended). Based on past paper registration volumes, schools receive shipments of return envelopes containing these booklets and the Registration Form in late summer. Remind students to mail their completed Registration Form together with proper payment in the envelope provided. Also note that the form is scanned, so photocopies cannot be used.
The registration booklet contains:
- Test dates and registration deadlines
- Fees
- Registration instructions
- Test-taking guidelines
- Instructions for the SAT Questionnaire
- Important information on policies for test-takers
Test-center, college and scholarship, and country codes as well as a list of majors are provided in a separate copy of The SAT Code List provided to schools and authorized agencies.
Returned registrations
If mandatory information is missing, the Registration Form will be returned to the student to complete and resubmit. Here are some common reasons this might happen:
- Student's name was incomplete.
- Student omitted payment or submitted insufficient payment or a payment that could not be processed.
- Student requested Sunday testing or opening a test center closer to home without enclosing the required letter.
