Accommodations

Wide range for the needs of students with disabilities

School counselors are encouraged to become familiar with the many different types of accommodations available from the College Board, to ensure that the most appropriate accommodations are requested for each student. See Other Accommodations for a list of some of the accommodations provided by the College Board.

Appropriate accommodations are based on a student's disability documentation, whether verified by his or her school, or determined by the College Board's review of the documentation. The College Board's process for determining appropriate accommodations allows considerable flexibility and customization, to accommodate each student's special needs.

When requesting accommodations, be sure that the documentation show not only that the student has a disability, but that there is a need for the specific accommodation that is requested. For more information on specific disabilities, see:
